Really, can everyone do micro SaaS? Practically yes, theoretically no. How so? Let’s analyze this in detail.
Practically, Yes!
Today, in practice, you can make a website in 30 seconds. It can even be done in a few seconds. You can write to artificial intelligence and get it done. Or you can work with a freelancer to make a website again.
Although it is not 30 seconds for MicroSaaS, you can still work with a freelancer or you can make a micro SaaS with nocode logic using tools like Bubble. Yes, this is possible. But should you do it? There are details you don’t see. People think with their eyes. When they see a website or any product, they say “Oh I can do it in a few minutes” Yes they can.
Even my grandma can do it, just by looking!
It takes brains to bring it from scratch to this point. This is the hard part.
People Think with Their Eyes
People are always like that. I see this, especially in new entrepreneurs. They want to come up with ideas that will change the world. I want to too, but not every idea changes the world. They find unrivaled ideas that are unprecedented. Because these are the first things they think of. Although this is the subject of a separate article.
When you look at a micro SaaS, you see with which technologies it is made and how it is marketed. You can do it, but you can’t earn the same money. Why is that? Because you think with your eyes.
Knowing software is a very mind-opening subject at this point. Because you need to think about all the possibilities in software. Let’s think about a simple membership system. You have to think about the error if someone leaves it blank. If they don’t write an e-mail or write it wrong. Maybe he left a space character. The software developer has to think of all possibilities. The user may not even think about leaving it blank.
I have already shown the password in the password writing section. That is, I made input type text instead of input type password. Despite that, some wrote their password incorrectly and those who wanted the forgot password feature. You will get tired if you don’t see other possibilities.
Theoretically, No!
If you think with your brain outside of your eyes and think about unseen details, it may not suit you. Because SaaS business is difficult. You have to update constantly. It’s not like writing a book. You write and publish the book once and it can be sold even years later, but SaaS is not like that. If you do not develop, you will disappear over time.
There is competition and if you fall behind, other people can overtake you. If you are too perfectionist, it hurts you. But the strange part is the entrepreneur himself. Because real entrepreneurs like to suffer. Masochists. Imagine stepping out of your comfort zone and living a life full of risks. No one knows what will happen in the future. Maybe you’ll make 100 products, but none of them will make money. It’s all possibilities. Especially if you have big responsibilities, it can be inevitable. You have to pay the rent and other bills. You have to work so hard that you may have problems in relationships.
Of course, if you do not have problems with time management, these are child’s play for you. Even if you make the product, it will be sold and marketed in the future. If you don’t know yourself well enough, you may enter the wrong fields. This may cause you to make wrong promises. Since you make wrong promises, it pressures you in another corner of your brain to keep your promise.
Over time, your stress levels can rise. If you’re a nervous person, it can affect your health. Stress is bad for all kinds of health though.
I’ve been trying to pay more attention to my health lately. I try to do things to reduce stress. SaaS can be difficult, but micro SaaS is more difficult, but it is also easy. When you work with a big team in SaaS, your job is easier. Because responsibility is distributed. If you are a back-end developer, you only think about your back-end and your work is more comfortable. But if you are a solopreneur, if you do a micro SaaS, you should think about the front-end, logo design, and even the marketing.
Micro SaaS is easy at the same time because your visitors know that it is micro. This means that your customers will be more receptive to you than to other products. If you don’t take on too many big responsibilities for SaaS, you still have responsibilities. Both + and –. You have to want to do it and not hate it even if you spend a long time doing it, otherwise, it becomes difficult to do.
Although I say that stress is bad, an entrepreneur should actually be under stress.
As A Result
If you enter just for money or if you create a micro SaaS by being populist just because it is popular, your failure rate is very high. Especially if it is your first attempt. Micro SaaS can be a bad idea for those who want a peaceful life. It can be a bad plan if you don’t have a plan B. Even Jeff Bezos had a plan B when he founded Amazon. “In the worst case, I’ll go back to my old job,” he said. If you have any legal situation, do you have lawyer money or a lawyer you know, etc? I didn’t and they sued me, but in the end, I covered the lawyer’s money by doing freelance work. I won the case.
Don’t just think with your eyes. Think about marketing, revenue models, business models, and sustainability. How long can you endure this? Know yourself. If you don’t, try everything.
This business is not for everyone. Everyone is a general concept. It may be too much for some. You learn a lot of things on the way. Most people don’t even have patience. You should not enter certainty without thoroughly examining and getting enough information. If you are going to do something in this business, you should not resign from your job. You should run your business and the initiative at the same time. This way you can reduce your loss rate. So math. People ask what will maths help us in life. 🙂
