The biggest factor in all SaaS products is growth. And I will share with you a list of SaaS growth strategy that I have tried and got results.
I had an idea to write a blog post for MSA today, but it wasn’t this article. The reason for this article was the comments under a tweet I shared on X.
SaaS Growth Strategy List:
First of all, you should know that I founded 3 SaaS, one was getAPIMaker.com, and the other one was CreateTargetAudience.com which I founded with my former co-founder. I learned a lot from him. I learned the most from my micro SaaS product called NotionPlus.dev, which I have been running for a couple of years. This information is the information I tried and gained there.
1. SaaS Growth Strategy: Start a Blog!
I know it’s a cliché, but it works! Isn’t the reason clichés are clichés because they work? Maybe. 🤷♂️
All you need to do is write articles following the list below.
- Write articles on long-tail keywords.
- Write articles with medium and low competition. Even write the first low-competitive articles.
- The number of monthly searches can be between 100 and 1000.
- Important: If you find a low-competition, long-tail keyword with 10k searches per month, don’t miss it! It is extremely valuable!
- Write the names of the blog images you create with keywords. For example, make micro-saas-growth-strategy.jpg instead of untitled-1.png!
- Add them to the Search Console.
- Update your post once a month and add it again in the Search Console.
- With each new blog post, add your blog page again in the Search Console.
- Write at least 5 posts!
That’s enough to get you your first 10 customers. Of course, it might be better if you increase the number of articles!
2. SaaS Growth Strategy: Start a YouTube!
You don’t need super videos! You can make faceless videos. I used to make screencasts on the NotionPlus YouTube channel and I hardly ever talked, I just put music in the background and posted it.
It’s as simple as that!
3. SaaS Growth Strategy: Video Usage
Add the video you shot on YouTube to the help page of your product. Also, include it on your blog. You are creating a spider web like a spider web. You are designing funnel marketing.
4. SaaS Growth Strategy: Badges
The easiest thing to grow a SaaS is its users. Dropbox, which is often given as an example of growth hacking tactics, is very suitable here. If you brought in new members to attract more members, it gave you extra free space.
Here, instead of using referrals, you are making a move that will highlight the platform. The user has to introduce Dropbox. Now you can add this requirement to badges.
I add my website badge to the bottom right corner of each widget. When Notion template producers reach more users as they use the product, they promote my product extra.
5. SaaS Growth Strategy: Backlink Tactic
Many chatbot tools like Intercom use this very often. There is such a great point here that I was speechless when I first discovered it!
Websites with millions of visitors can backlink to your product! You can add a link with keyword content under the product with Javascript like you add a badge. When all the tools that use your website add you to their websites, you will get hundreds of successful backlinks!
I didn’t use this backlink tactic on NotionPlus, but I used it on joinTopList.com. I have a failed product. My goal was to generate advertising revenue by getting backlinks. It could have been developed more. But to generate income.
They still added thousands of clicks a month to their website! That’s awesome!
To Be Continued and You Will Love It!
I tried other strategies but these were the ones that worked the best. Maybe I can also share growth strategies that didn’t work at all. You can follow the newsletter for free to be notified when that day comes.
See you in the next article!
