Let’s think about it. What do we mean by the cheapest SaaS? If we’re talking about money, Vercel, Supabase, and LemonSqueez are free. But let’s not make it that simple. Let’s also opt for the most cost-effective option in terms of energy and information usage.

I’m talking about simplicity that even someone who knows nothing about it can use.
To solve this, we first need to understand the basics.
- Website
- Payment system
- Service
The website and payment system can be easily resolved. The service to be offered is important. I say service, but what I’m really talking about is the trick.
📌 Recommend: Micro SaaS Growth Strategy
Such as, there is payment and infrastructure for a link shortening service. But the main issue is link shortening. That’s why the service to be provided should not be too big!
It could be information, something that can be updated from time to time. For example, a hidden page can be created with Softr. Accordingly, you can build the website using a platform like Softr and set up the subscription system with LemonSqueezy. You can show that page to subscribers.
However, anyone who is not a subscriber can access that page via the link. While writing these lines, the idea of sending emails came to mind. Results can be sent via email. Let’s clarify this.
Super Simple SaaS Formula
- We are setting up the website with Softr.
- We are setting up the payment system with LemonSqueezy for $2 per month.
- We send some things to those people via monthly email.
Of course, if you have a WordPress website, you can skip LemonSqueezy and continue with Patreon. With the Patreon plugin, visitors to the site can only access that page as long as they pay.
A more minimal version of this is just a 1-page site + 1 Patreon.

Such as the Data DB (Patreon) does what I’m talking about. There’s a website called The Mead DB. It has a minimum package of $11.50 and 731 members. So 731*11.50=$8406.5 MRR.
In theory, this is the cheapest option, but it’s also the cheapest in terms of energy, time, and knowledge. If anyone has objections or better ideas, feel free to comment on Substack. 🙂
