You’re going to start a startup but are confused because you should do traditional or micro SaaS. What’s the difference between the two?
Actually, the first logic that comes to mind is correct. One is a large-scale model, the other a more micro-scale model.
- SaaS requires regular development. However, micro SaaSes do not have such an obligation because they are micro.
- SaaSes are suitable for large markets.
- Micro SaaS can play a role in smaller markets.
- The target group of micro SaaS does not have to be general. However, they strive for a general audience so that SaaSes reach more people.
- SaaSes try to solve more complex things. Micro SaaSes focus on a niche topic.
- Micro SaaS customers are more understanding because they know that it is developed by a small team, often by one person.
- SaaS has large teams. Micro SaaS has small teams. Most of them are even developed by one person.
- SaaS is difficult to maintain. Micro SaaSes are not.
- SaaSes have big plans for the future. Micro SaaSes are not.
In short, SaaS is more general. Micro SaaS is more niche by covering a subset.
